Tottenham Manager Frank Calls Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Real Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered keeper Vicario were told later "those individuals can't be true Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.

Tottenham conceded two scores in the opening six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth top-flight home defeat of the year.

But the main topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when Vicario gave away possession far outside his box.

He came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the touchline.

However, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italian spun and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at 36.6 metres.

Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper again, a number of Tottenham supporters booed him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

One of those booing sessions truly angered Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager commented regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be real Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering following the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a early lead prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second period performance.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the second goal was "totally preventable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I know the role the keeper is performing. He is a excellent team player, he's a real leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the decisive goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Vicario After the Match

Italy national team Vicario is in his third season with Spurs.

He stated following the match that he had to accept the feedback.

"That goal was a mistake of mine, I take responsibility for that," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I simply hit the ball in a bad manner. It was an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said being booed "is part of the game".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on the team to remain more calm, to focus on our own performance. The team is missing in calmness and poise to overturn results. Today is a poor defeat and it's tough to take."

'It Shocked Me Nobody Returned to the Line'

In spite of the keeper's error, it was far from an easy score for Harry Wilson to score.

In fact it was the second most distant Premier League score of the campaign – after Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly also came on the same day.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

10 moments passed between the keeper coming out of his area and Wilson shooting – which was 5 moments following the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders returned to the line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little extra time. Then it was all about trying to make the right contact and get it on target. I had a good feeling, the moment it left my boot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

While the keeper's error led coverage, this was an overall poor day for Tottenham to continue their home woes.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the league, a shared team record matching 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's old side Brentford and title holders Liverpool to come prior to the close of the season.

Only one of those wins have occurred after Frank took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated Frank.

"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in four straight at home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 shots on target per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on record in a one campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got take the stick," Murphy said. "He has taken a prestigious role at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.

"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
