The experienced manager is being questioned following his inability to win any of his first seven matches following his appointment instead of the former manager in September

Nottingham Forest were considering their options over the pause in fixtures, including former Burnley manager the defensive specialist one of the candidates reviewed as an alternative despite Postecoglou only being appointed for less than six weeks

They host the London club this weekend with the manager gave a five-minute monologue in his match preview media briefing, with the team sitting 17th in the Premier League

"Certain people focus at the weeds but I look at the development occurring," he declared, "I'm genuinely enthusiastic as I have a group of young players ready to evolve"

He also confirmed he did not speak with the chairman Evangelos Marinakis throughout the break

"I am not wasting my energy on what people think" he emphasized

"I just don't fit, not only in this role, throughout football" he elaborated

Prior Management Role

"I assumed control of the North London club and was informed by the chairman during that period 'this club needs to claim a trophy'"

"He stated 'we endeavored to bring winners in, Jose [Mourinho] and Antonio [Conte] but it didn't succeed, we require an alternative method'"

"I felt somewhat insulted by that statement because I see myself as successful"

Explaining His Results

"We ended up in fifth position in my initial campaign" he recalled

"Every time the star striker found the net I'd wish he would have continued for another season since it could have been beneficial to retain him post our top-five position"

"But somehow that year has vanished from the record books" he argued

Looking Forward

"Therefore, we arrive at the present situation where there's a different story to share, that maybe I am not an unsuccessful coach who was fortunate to secure this position"

"but perhaps I am a coach who if provided patience, the story always ends identically"

"With every team I've managed, it ends the same - with me and a trophy"

He claimed European silverware last spring - their first piece of silverware after a long drought plus their first UEFA trophy in over four decades

Previous Scottish champion likewise vowed, allowed sufficient opportunity, he would maintain his track record of securing silverware everywhere he has managed
