An extensive two-month voyage around the Australian Coast was terminated following the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was stranded by the vessel on a isolated island.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but broke off from the group for a pause. The vessel left without her and went back later that day after the ship staff realised the lady was missing.

A large-scale hunt discovered her body the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with police and the state coroner.

Head of the voyage organizer announced that passengers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the remainder of the journey had been called off due to the "tragic passing and previous engine troubles".

Family Reaction

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her family was "stunned and distressed that the ship left the location after an scheduled tour without my mum".

In her statement, she described her mum as an "energetic elderly person" who was a participant of a bushwalking group.

"According to scant details we have been provided, it seems that there was a breakdown of care and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She further stated that she desired the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have performed that might have saved Mum's existence".
