The British tennis star secured the biggest win of his career by rebounding from a lost first set to overcome world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz in three hard-fought sets in the second round of the Paris Masters.

Even though he had earlier beaten Alcaraz on two separate matches, this triumph marks Norrie's initial win over a current world No 1.

"Massive. So big for me," stated Norrie, who is now the fifth UK male player in the record books to overcome a world No 1. "Bouncing back from a physical setback last year, I lost in the initial match of qualies here. I just sought to appreciate my performance in the second half of the year. To get a triumph like this, it's the biggest win of my tennis journey, my maiden triumph over the global number one and likely the most confident player in the sport right now."

The British player, ranked 31st globally, also halted Alcaraz's dominant streak of nine finals in a row and 17 successive Masters 1000 wins, which represented the finest stretch of outcomes in the Spanish star's young professional path.

Alcaraz appeared to be advancing smoothly to a win at the start as he cruised in the first set. Yet, the British contender steadily fought his way back into the game by executing with sharper placement and pulling the Spanish opponent into prolonged, physical points.
