Both Deceased Students Named in the Ivy League School Shooting as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in the recent mass shooting on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant carried on following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.

The victim's identification was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were wounded in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man arrested in a search at a lodging about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”
