A Fresh Set of Detentions Executed in Relation to Paris Louvre Museum Precious Gems Robbery

Four additional suspects have been detained in the context of the continuing probe into the previous theft of valuable gems at the famous Paris museum, as stated by the Parisian legal officials.

Specifics of the Latest Detentions

Two men, aged 38 and 39, and a duo of females, aged 31 and 40, were arrested on Tuesday. All are from the Île-de-France region.

Included in this group is thought to be the last participant of a group of four that reportedly executed the broad-daylight robbery, per French media. The additional three accused perpetrators have already been arrested and indicted, officials say.

Law enforcement has been granted up to 96 hours to question them. Zero evidence has yet been uncovered of the taken jewelry - worth an estimated eighty-eight million euros - which were stolen on October 19th.

Earlier Indictments and Denials

Four individuals have already been indicted concerning the theft - three male and one female suspects, who similarly reside within the Paris region.

One female, aged 38 was charged earlier this month with complicity in organised theft and illegal conspiracy with a view to committing a crime.

In a distinct case, a 37-year-old male, was accused of robbery and illegal conspiracy.

These two suspects, who remain unnamed in public records, have denied any involvement.

How the Heist Was Executed

The robbery occurred when the team of four individuals utilized a stolen mechanical lift attached to a vehicle to gain access to the Galerie d'Apollon (Gallery of Apollo) through a terrace close to the River Seine.

The thieves utilized a circular saw to break into showcases housing the jewellery.

The thieves were inside for just 240 seconds and fled the scene on a pair of scooters stationed outside at 9:38 AM, before transferring to automobiles.

One of the stolen items - a royal crown - was lost during the getaway but eight additional pieces of jewelry - featuring an emerald and diamond necklace that Napoleon I gave his second wife, the Empress Marie-Louise - were stolen.

Safeguarding Deficiencies and Consequences

It has been stated that the theft was performed by minor lawbreakers instead of sophisticated criminal organizations.

Soon following the robbery, it was announced by the Louvre leadership that the sole surveillance camera watching the Apollo Gallery was directed away from the balcony the thieves climbed over to gain entry.

The museum's president has since admitted that the institution had fallen short in its responsibilities, but disputed allegations of security being ignored - stating that from the beginning of her tenure in two thousand twenty-one she had been repeatedly cautioning of the requirement for additional resources.

Strengthened Protective Steps

Since the incident, protective protocols have been strengthened for the nation's cultural landmarks.

The museum has moved a selection of its most valuable gems to the national bank following the heist.
